Manly Beach

Manly beach is known as the surfing district. Along the coast there is an array of restaurant, cafes and night clubs all overlooking the ocean.

A 30 minute ferry ride from Circular quay is the best way to get over there, and aside from the beach there is often a market nearby, and Ocean World, one of Sydney’s aquariums.  It is well known for its water sports, which include kayaking, scuba diving, fishing, volleyball and parasailing.

Coojee Beach or Smelly Place?

Coogee, the word originally deriving from the aboriginal word ‘Koojah’ meaning smelling place is quite a description from this beach famously known as ‘the sports coast’.

Apparently it was once known as the smelly beach due to the large amounts of seaweed that were washed up by the shore, which would eventually start o smell. However rest assured there are no traces of bulks of seaweed anymore, and although it is quite common for it to be washed up, it is also very quickly removed!

This beach is a great place to gather round for a sunset bbq or a light swim. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the South and possesses one of the most awe-inspiring walks from Coogee to Bondi beach.

To get a better view of the beach, a walk up to dolphins point, situated left of the beach is great for taking pictures and admiring the clear blue seas.
